Previous Events - Camp Gan Israel, 11.01.08

Last week Chabad WA’s Camp Gan Israel kicked off their 3-week summer session with a successful Mitzvah Week. Between camp activities, which centered around different mitzvot, the kids had a visit from Blitz the Magician and the Gym Bus. They also went on excursions to Full of Fun Indoor Play Centre, the Maurice Zeffert Home and Whiteman Park.

When the group of kids, aged 5 – 12, arrived at Whiteman Park, they entered a giant tent and were greeted by Avraham Avinu (AKA Yitzchak Goldstein). Dressed in biblical attire, “Avraham” invited all the children inside the tent and offered them a snack and drink. He taught them about the mitzvah of making guests feel welcome in your home.

The week ended with songs performed by the campers for the residents of Maurice Zeffert Home, followed by Shabbat activities they will never forget.

This week’s theme has been “Israel” and the kids visited “The Holy Land”. They posted messages at the Kotel, learned Israeli dancing, and ate traditional Israeli food. Besides participating in the Wacky Olympics, the campers visited the Morley Rollerdome and had a fun visit from Sci-Tech’s Science Roadshow.
