1st Book Review by Anthony Goodman

Living Each Week was recently donated to Chabad WA by the Keyser family in honour of the anniversary of Antony Kesyer’s Bar mitzvah. It is my honour to review this book.

Dr. Twerski is one of our generation’s most eminent interpreters of the Torah’s teachings regarding self-control and self-improvement. He is a psychiatrist, an ordained rabbi, and founder and medical director of Gateway Rehabilitation Center in Pennsylvania.

Readers of 'Living Each Week' keep the book on their desks or night tables, as it is a constant source of inspiration and strength. Antony was one such reader. Antony’s comical and informative Dvar Torah’s were often based on the content of 'Living Each Week.'

Twerski’s book goes through the weekly Sidra (portion of the Torah read each week) picking out 'psukim' (biblical sentences) of note, and providing insightful explanations. His commentaries weave a seamless tapestry of Talmudic and Chassidic knowledge to bring about Drosha’s (sermon) that penetrate and give meaning to the contemporary reader.

This book is relevant to both the beginner and the experienced Talmudic scholar.

'Living Each Week' is now available in the ChabadWA library along with other titles by Rabbi Twerski such as:

It’s Not as Tough as You Think
Visions of Our fathers
Think Jewish
